CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox are celebrating Women’s Equality Night on Monday, August 26 vs. Detroit at 7:10 p.m. CT, with special programming around the ballpark centered on empowerment and representation as well as activations designed to support women-owned businesses, organizations and movements.

Highlighting the strength and potential of female fandom, the evening’s pregame festivities will welcome a DJ and women-led rock band, The PriSSillas, for performances at Gates 4 and 5, respectively, while the organization’s BMO Small Business Hub spotlights local, women-owned businesses and non-profits at the forefront of championing gender-specific representation and advocacy.

With help from White Sox front office staff volunteers and members of Youth Guidance’s Working on Womanhood (WOW), the organization will hold a pregame event where participants will assemble menstruation kits to be distributed to young women from Chicago’s under-resourced neighborhoods. Addressing period poverty and fostering a supportive community that promotes menstrual health and education, the event will include remarks from Aunt Flow Founder and CEO Claire Coder. WOW is a school-based, trauma informed group counseling program that empowers young women by providing them with social-emotional support, academic guidance, and life skills to overcome personal and societal challenges.

This season, the White Sox worked with Aunt Flow and hygiene service provider Citron Hygiene, to install dispensers with free period products in 11 locations throughout Guaranteed Rate Field. Aunt Flow is part of the White Sox Diverse Business Partners program, a Major League Baseball initiative seeking to extend baseball’s impact by contributing to economic growth among diverse-owned businesses and suppliers.

In addition, the White Sox will welcome student-athletes to a “Women in Sports Panel” discussion about growing the legacy of Title IX and the building momentum of the women’s sports industry. Attendees will hear from leading voices, including baseball trailblazer Kim Ng, the first woman to hold a general manager position for a Major League Baseball team and currently the senior advisor at Athletes Unlimited, as well as current and former CHISOX Athletes Abbey Murphy and Kiki Van Zanten. Murphy is an NCAA Division I hockey player for the University of Minnesota and current member of the U.S. Women’s National Team and Van Zanten, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, is a professional soccer midfielder for the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League. The panel will be moderated by White Sox in-game host Alyssa Bergamini. Space is limited, and fans attending the evening game are invited to register for the free event here (gameday ticket required).

Additional in-game programming scheduled for Women’s Equality Night includes:

  • Pregame “Take the Field,” featuring seven students from Youth Guidance’s WOW program taking the field alongside the White Sox starting lineup.
  • White Sox walk-up music, incorporating the important women in players’ lives by featuring songs selected by their mothers, wives, significant others, daughters or other women close to them.
  • #SoxSupportHer Networking Suite, inviting executives and leaders from local female-focused organizations, including Daisie Foundation, I Am That Woman Movement, Women Employed, Women in Sports + Events (WISE), among others, to enjoy the game.
  • Game Changers Photography Series, presented by Modelo Especial and Saint Xavier University, will spotlight the evening’s visual perspective from Your Story Matters owner and lead photographer Stella Fanega-Spencer.
