Voting for Phase 2 of MLB All-Star Game opens today

Major League Baseball recently announced that six Orioles advanced to Phase 2 of the voting process for the 2024 All-Star Game, presented by Mastercard. Voting for Phase 2 will open today at 12 p.m. ET and will run through Wednesday, July 3, at 12 p.m. The top vote getter at each position will automatically receive a starting position, ensuring their place at the Midsummer Classic.

Fans can vote once a day by visiting Orioles.com/AllStar or through the MLB or MLB Ballpark App. Fans who vote Orioles will receive 30 percent off tickets to an upcoming O’s game. Every vote counts, and the Orioles need all of Birdland’s help to send a record number of players to the 2024 All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas.

Orioles players who moved on to Phase 2 include SS GUNNAR HENDERSON, 1B RYAN MOUNTCASTLE, DH RYAN O’HEARN, C ADLEY RUTSCHMAN, OF ANTHONY SANTANDER, and 3B JORDAN WESTBURG.

This would mark the first career All-Star selection for five of the six players, with Rutschman earning the honor in 2023.

This year, Rutschman is looking to become the third Orioles catcher to win the fan vote, joining Terry Kennedy (1987) and Matt Wieters (2014). Henderson is hoping to become the first O’s shortstop selected to the Midsummer Classic since Manny Machado in 2018, while Westburg is looking to become the first O’s third baseman since Machado in 2016. If he wins the fan vote, Santander would be the third O’s outfielder to make the Midsummer Classic in the past four seasons (Austin Hays – 2023, Cedric Mullins – 2021), and the first to win the fan vote since Adam Jones in 2018, while O’Hearn would be the first Orioles designated hitter to do so since Nelson Cruz in 2014.
