Twins select contract of Scott Blewett, reinstate Kyle Farmer from 10-day injured list
Joe Ryan placed on 15-day Injured List and Brooks Lee placed on 10-day Injured List; Brock Stewart transferred to 60-day IL
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Scott Blewett from Triple-A St. Paul. Additionally, the Twins have returned infielder Kyle Farmer from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day Injured List.
Blewett, who signed with the Twins as a minor league free agent in January, has gone 5-2 with a 3.66 ERA (51.2 IP, 21 ER), 17 walks, 52 strikeouts and a 1.37 WHIP in 36 games (3 starts) for the Saints this season. The 28-year-old was originally selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft and appeared in five major league games for the Royals from 2020-21, posting a 3.38 ERA (8.0 IP, 3 ER) with six walks and eight strikeouts in those games.
Farmer has missed the Twins’ last 18 games with a right shoulder strain. He played in three games on rehab assignment with the Saints, going 3-for-11 with two doubles, one RBI and one walk. The 33-year-old has played in 63 games for Minnesota this season, hitting .189 (25-for-132) with 10 doubles, 15 RBI, 13 walks, three stolen bases and 15 runs scored.
To make room for Blewett on the 26-man roster, the Twins have placed right-handed pitcher Joe Ryan on the 15-day Injured List with a right shoulder strain (retroactive to August 8). Ryan was removed from his start on Wednesday in the bottom of the third inning with the injury. He has gone 7-7 with a 3.60 ERA (135.0 IP, 54 ER), 23 walks and 147 strikeouts in 23 starts for the Twins this season. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart (right shoulder strain) to the 60-day Injured List.
To make room for Farmer on the 26-man roster, the Twins have placed infielder Brooks Lee on the 10-day Injured List with right bicep tendinitis (retroactive to August 8). Lee, who made his major league debut on July 3, has hit .253 (25-for-99) with two doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI, nine walks, two stolen bases, eight runs scored and a .642 OPS in 26 games for the Twins this season.
