Red Sox select right-handed pitcher Brad Keller from Triple-A Worcester

Club Designates Left-Handed Pitcher Joely Rodriguez for Assignment

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today selected right-handed pitcher Brad Keller to the active Major League roster from Triple-A Worcester. To make room, the club designated left-handed pitcher Joely Rodriguez for assignment.

Keller, 29, was signed by Boston as a minor league free agent on August 14 after electing free agency on August 13. The right-hander has recorded a 5.30 ERA (22 ER/37.1 IP) in 15 Major League games (two starts) this season for the Chicago White Sox (five games) and Boston (10 games). Previously signed by the Red Sox as a free agent on May 26, the right-hander also owns a 3.00 ERA (10 ER/30.0 IP) in nine games (six starts) with Worcester.

Rodriguez, 32, has recorded a 5.93 ERA (9 ER/13.2 IP) in 14 games for Boston this season. The left-hander also owns a 1.88 ERA (3 ER/14.1 IP) and .157 opponent batting average (8-for-51) with 13 strikeouts in 13 games for Worcester. Originally signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international free agent in May 2009, the Dominican Republic native has posted a 4.80 ERA (109 ER/170.2 IP) in 182 career games with the Philadelphia Phillies (2016-17), Texas Rangers (2020-21), New York Yankees (2021), New York Mets (2022), and Red Sox (2023-24).
