Red Sox exercise club option on outfielder Rob Refsnyder
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced that they have exercised outfielder Rob Refsnyder’s 2025 club option.
Refsnyder, 33, set career highs in 2024 in games played (93), hits (77), runs scored (32), doubles (16), home runs (11), and RBI (40), batting .283 (77-for-272) while making 31 starts in left field, 20 in right field, and 10 as the designated hitter. In 239 games since joining the Red Sox in 2022, the right-handed hitter has batted .278 (174-for-627) with a .795 OPS, 18 home runs, and 89 RBI, including a .316 batting average (98-for-310) and .910 OPS against left-handed pitchers.
Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the fifth round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, Refsnyder has played in 471 career games with the Yankees (2015-17), Toronto Blue Jays (2017), Tampa Bay Rays (2018), Texas Rangers (2020), Minnesota Twins (2021), and Red Sox (2022-24).
