Red Sox announce roster moves

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

  • Reinstated outfielder Jarren Duran from the Suspended List.
  • Recalled left-handed pitcher Brennan Bernardino from Triple-A Worcester.
  • Placed left-handed pitcher Cam Booser on the 15-Day Injured List due to left elbow inflammation.
  • Optioned infielder/outfielder Enmanuel Valdez to Worcester following last night’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Boston’s 40-Man Roster is now at 40.

Duran, 27, was issued a two-game suspension by the Red Sox on Monday. The left-handed hitter has batted .291 (143-for-491) with 80 runs scored, 36 doubles, 13 triples, 14 home runs, 58 RBI, and 29 stolen bases in 116 games this season, making 58 starts in center field and 58 in left field. Originally selected by Boston in the seventh round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has hit .272 (309-for-1,134) in 309 career games (2021-24).

Bernardino, 32, owns a 3.83 ERA (17 ER/40.0 IP) in 43 games (two starts) this season for Boston. The left-hander has also pitched in two games for Worcester. Originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 26th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has posted a 3.48 ERA (36 ER/93.0 IP) with 98 strikeouts in 100 career Major League games (eight starts) with the Seattle Mariners (2022) and Red Sox (2023-24).

Booser, 32, faced three batters in last night’s game against Texas. The left-hander owns a 3.00 ERA (14 ER/42.0 IP) with 42 strikeouts in 41 games with Boston this season, his Major League debut. Signed by the Red Sox as a minor league free agent in February 2023, the Washington native has also pitched in six games for Worcester this season.

Valdez, 25, has hit .224 (38-for-170) with 12 doubles, six home runs, and 27 RBI in 59 games for Boston this season, making 46 starts at second base and one as the designated hitter. In 40 games this season for Worcester, the left-handed hitter has batted .239 (37-for-155) with nine home runs and an .802 OPS. Originally signed by the Houston Astros as an international free agent in July 2015, the Dominican Republic native has hit .243 (75-for-309) in 108 career Major League games, all with Boston (2023-24).
