Rays Add Outfielder Jake Mangum To 40-man Roster
The Tampa Bay Rays have selected OF Jake Mangum to the 40-man roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, LHP Richard Lovelady has been designated for assignment.
Mangum, 28, hit .317/.358/.442 (126-for-398) with 30 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 56 RBI and 20 steals in 104 games for Triple-A Durham last season. He became the first Bull to win the International League batting title since Jake Cronenworth (.334) in 2019 and was one of five players in all of Triple-A to record 30+ doubles and 20+ steals.
Mangum was acquired from the Miami Marlins on December 8, 2023, as the player to be named later, along with INF Erick Lara and RHP Andrew Lindsey, in exchange for INF Vidal Bruján and RHP Calvin Faucher.
Lovelady, 29, was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on May 18, 2024 in exchange for LHP Jeff Belge and went 3-5 with a 3.77 ERA (28.2IP, 12ER) and two saves in 28 appearances for the Rays.
