This weekend, MLB players showcase the people and pursuits that make them who they are during 2024 Players’ Weekend, taking place through the League beginning Friday, August 16 - Sunday, August 18. Throughout the weekend, players will have the platform to celebrate their interests, backstories, causes and people that are important to them.

A different aspect of the players’ lives will be highlighted each day through game presentation elements in-stadium, broadcast enhancements with media partners, the League and Club social media content and more. Friday highlights the fun aspects of players personalities, friendships, and hobbies. On Saturday, the focus turns to causes, charities and community initiatives that are important to players. On Sunday, players get to show their appreciation and celebrate the people that helped them on their road to the Major Leagues.

Some anticipated tributes include bats and cleats that pay homage to home countries/hometowns, alma maters, nicknames, favorite characters, family members and foundations. MLB and its Clubs plan supporting content to further tell the stories behind some of the on-field acknowledgments that fans will see.

To further celebrate the players that impact the game, Academy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry stars in the latest extension of MLB’s “Baseball is Something Else” brand campaign debuting today. In the spots, Henry portrays an MLB scout that has seen it all, but he’s never seen anything like what’s on the field today. Through his eyes, Henry highlights the perfect storm of generational talent, engaging personalities and exceptional play that is currently on display. The integrated campaign includes social extensions and giveaways as well as radio and editorial components that will evolve and update through the Postseason. This creative was developed with Wieden+Kennedy. After debuting on social media, the spots will appear across MLB Media outlets including MLB Network, MLB.com, MLB.TV; MLB broadcast partners including FOX/FS1, ESPN, TBS, and Apple; and across other paid digital media sites.

For the first-time ever, players will wear special New Era caps featuring their uniform number on the side panel in a new design in-game. After Players’ Weekend concludes, select items will be chosen for auction to benefit a charitable organization of the player’s choosing.

Many of the stories and causes that players choose to highlight will be featured on MLB broadcasts throughout the weekend culminating with the Sunday Night Baseball match-up will be the Little League Classic live on ESPN from Williamsport, PA where the New York Yankees will face off against the Detroit Tigers at 7:10 PM ET.
