The Pittsburgh Pirates today placed catcher Henry Davis on the 10-day injured list (retro to September 5) with left hand inflammation.

The Pirates have selected the contract of outfielder/infielder Billy Cook from Triple-A Indianapolis. At the time of his promotion to the big leagues, Cook was hitting .276 (29-for-105) with seven doubles, five home runs, 21 RBI, a .389 on-base percentage, 486 slugging percentage and .875 OPS in 30 games with Indianapolis.

Prior to being acquired by the Pirates, Cook split the 2024 season between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk, hitting a combined .275 (86-for-313) with 17 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 53 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 85 games.

Cook, who is currently rated by MLB Pipeline as Pittsburgh’s No. 24 prospect, made eight starts in center field, seven in left field, six at first base and five in right field for Indianapolis.

He will wear uniform No. 28.

There are now 39 players on Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster.
