Minnesota Twins Homestand Highlights: September 22-28

Division-leading Twins return to Target Field for final regular season homestand; Minnesota can clinch the American League Central Division title at home tonight; Fan Appreciation Weekend, special celebrations and more on tap for six-game stay

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The first-place Minnesota Twins enter today with a magic number of one, and, with a victory tonight at Target Field against the Los Angeles Angels (or losses by Cleveland and Detroit), will clinch their third American League Central division title in the last five seasons. Tonight’s game opens the Twins’ 13th and final homestand of the regular season, a six-game, seven-day stay against a pair of AL West foes. First, the Twins welcome the Angels for three games on Fan Appreciation Weekend tonight (Friday, September 22) through Sunday, September 24. After an off-day on Monday, the Twins wrap up the regular season home schedule with three games against the Oakland Athletics from Tuesday-Thursday (September 26-28).

Fans who purchase this exclusive ticket package – available at Friday-Sunday home games – includes a ticket in Sections 136, 137 or 138 and an exclusive t-shirt commemorating the Land of 10,000 Rakes.

FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE

CUB pharmacy will be on hand this weekend (September 22-24) offering free flu shots from the time gates open each day until the end of the seventh inning. Find them on the main concourse inside Gate 14.

SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS: FAN APPRECIATION, CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS AND HISPANIC HERITAGE

The Twins will host several special celebrations this homestand, starting with Fan Appreciation Weekend presented by Caribou Coffee tonight (Friday, September 22) and Saturday, September 23, followed by Kids Appreciation presented by Target on Sunday, September 24. On Tuesday, September 26, the Twins will recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Night; the club will then celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night the following night, Wednesday, September 27.

Friday, September 22 vs. Los Angeles Angels presented by Caribou Coffee (7:10 p.m.; gates open at 5:00 p.m.)

  • Potential Division Clincher: With a win tonight (or losses by Cleveland and Detroit), the Twins will clinch the 2023 American League Central division title – their third title in the last five seasons (also 2019 and 2020).

Saturday, September 23 vs. Los Angeles Angels presented by Caribou Coffee (1:10 p.m.; gates open at 11:00 a.m.)

  • Fargo Little League Recognition: Prior to the game, the Twins will recognize Fargo 12U Little League, the first team from North Dakota to reach the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. The team went 4-1 and outscored opponents 55-24 at the Midwest Regionals in Indianapolis to earn its Williamsport berth, where it went 0-2 with a 13-9 exhibition game win over the Czech Republic.
  • Strike Out ALS: Minnesota Air is donating $10,000 to Strike Out ALS and will do a pregame check presentation.
  • Fan Appreciation Weekend presented by Caribou Coffee: The Twins are proud to celebrate and thank Twins Territory during Fan Appreciation Weekend presented by Caribou Coffee.

  • Ceremonial First Pitch: A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by singer and rapper Seph, a member of K-pop group KARD.
  • MSHBCA Hall of Fame: The Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association’s 2023 Hall of Fame class will be recognized on the field prior to the game. Four of the six inductees will be in attendance – Mark Grundhofer of Waconia, Jared Mountain of Minneapolis Southwest, Chris Nelson of Red Lake County and Dean Schwirtz of Glencoe-Silver Lake.
  • Little League Recognition: Prior to the game, the Twins will celebrate the 11-year-old Hamel Little League team, winners of the Minnesota Little League State Tournament – Hamel’s first state title in any division since the program’s founding in 1926.
  • Crescent Cove: A group from Crescent Cove and the Harmon Killebrew Hospice Home for Kids will sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, joined by Harmon’s widow Nita Killebrew.
  • Kids Appreciation Day presented by Target: The Twins organization is proud to celebrate and thank the youngest fans in Twins Territory with Kids Appreciation Day presented by Target.
  • The first 5,000 fans 12 and under will receive a Kids Appreciation Twins Beanie presented by Target.
  • The Twins will distribute 5,000 special “Twins Pull Tabs” to fans 12 and under, with the chance to win one of three prizes: One free Home Plate View ticket to a 2024 Twins home game in April (excluding the Home Opener); an autographed item by a Twins player or alumni; or, a Twins prize pack.
  • Thanks to Gillette Children’s and Target, kidsmeals are half price – just $4 – at Hennepin Grille (Section 311) and Taste of Twins Territory (Section 124).
  • Nine lucky kids will take the field with the Twins before the top of the first inning as part of the Perkins Kids Starting Lineup.
  • Bullseye’s Backyard presented by Target will be set up inside Gate 34, featuring interactive activities including Big Catch, Run the Bases and a coloring mural to let kids of all ages leave their mark on Target Field. The activation also provides the opportunity for kids to print their own baseball cards, win ticket upgrades, get a custom screen-printed bag or bandanna and even the chance to be selected as the Target Ball Kid for a game.
  • National Baseball Hall of Famer and Twins legend Tony Oliva will be at Bullseye’s Backyard from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to visit with fans.
  • Postgame, kids can run the bases courtesy of Gillette Children’s and Target.

TWINS VS. OAKLAND ATHLETICS: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 – THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 (3 GAMES)

Tuesday, September 26 vs. Oakland Athletics (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Childhood Cancer Awareness Night: The Twins join Major League Baseball and the 29 other clubs in raising awareness of and advocating for research for childhood cancer.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch: A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Will Francis, a 22-year-old cancer patient and hockey player for the University of Minnesota Duluth and Anaheim Ducks. The St. Paul native is currently in his second battle with cancer, after being first diagnosed in 2020, going through treatment and being declared cancer free in 2022. He recently shared that his cancer has returned. Twins player Nick Gordon, who met Will when the Twins visited Masonic Children’s Hospital last week, will catch the first pitch.
  • Kids Starting Lineup: A kids starting lineup will feature children who have received or are receiving treatment for childhood cancer. 
  • In-Game Elements: Other in-game elements of Childhood Cancer Awareness Night include: Players and on-field staff wearing gold ribbons and wristbands in honor of kids and families impacted by childhood cancer; recognizing healthcare heroes on the field; a seventh-inning stretch group; and lineup graphics/player photos illustrated by local pediatric cancer patients.
  • Gate Giveaway – T-Shirt Tuesday with Leeya Rose Jackson: The first 5,000 fans through the Target Field gates on Tuesday will receive the final installment of the Twins’ T-Shirt Tuesday Artist Series, this time featuring a design by Leeya Rose Jackson. From Detroit, MI and currently residing in North Minneapolis, Jackson runs an illustration business under the name Leeya Makes Noise and is the creative founder of Noisemakers Design Shop. She makes art and media that are loud, bold, honest and celebratory of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ identities, via her use of vibrant colors, maximalism and Afro-futurism.
  • September Part-Time Employees of the Month: On the field prior to the game, the Twins will recognize the organization’s September part-time Employees of the Month.

Wednesday, September 27 vs. Oakland Athletics (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Hispanic Heritage Night: Join the Twins in continuing the club’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on Hispanic Heritage Night! Activations include:
  • Música y Baila: The pregame activities will feature performances by Ecuadorian dance group Away Runakuna and Mexican dance group Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca. During the game, Mariachi Mexico will serenade the stadium with live music from the admin balcony.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch: A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Rodolfo Gutierrez, executive director of HACER (Hispanic Advocacy and Community Empowerment through Research).
  • National Anthem: “The Star-Spangled Banner” will be performed by Yunuen Avila from Michoacán, Mexico.
  • Gray Duck Check Presentation: This season, Gray Duck collaborated with the Twins and Carlos Correa on special-edition bottles sold with collectible cards at liquor stores around the Twin Cities area. A portion of the proceeds from the bottles benefitted the Minnesota Twins Community Fund and prior to Wednesday’s game, Gray Duck co-founder and former Minnesota Vikings captain Chad Greenway will present a check for $5,000 and throw out a ceremonial first pitch. After the on-field presentation, Greenway will celebrity bartend at Target Field’s Gray Duck Deck in leftfield for several innings.
  • Treasure Island Resort and Casino Check Presentation: As part of its “Destination Home Run” program, Treasure Island Resort and Casino is donating $2,500 to the Minnesota Twins Community Fund for each Twins home run hit to the Treasure Island Home Run Deck in leftfield. A pregame check presentation will recognize this donation, as well as another season of Twins dingers.
  • September Front Office Employees of the Month: On the field prior to the game, the Twins will recognize the organization’s September front office Employees of the Month.

Thursday, September 28 vs. Oakland Athletics (12:10 p.m.; gates open at 10:30 a.m.)

  • Ceremonial First Pitch: A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Todd Carlson in honor of former 21-year MLB umpire Eric Cooper, who passed away in October 2019. UMPS Care Charities will host Coop’s Annual Bowling Bash on Sunday, November 19 in Des Moines, IA, with proceeds benefitting the Eric Cooper All-Star College Scholarship Program.
  • Seventh Inning Stretch: In a time-honored Twins tradition, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” for the final regular season home game will be sung by members of the club’s 2023 intern class.
  • Ticket Deals: Though the series finale against the Athletics doesn’t have a gate giveaway, fans can take advantage of four daily ticket deals: Meal Deal presented by U.S. Bank, Student Discount, Military Discount presented by Evolv Technology and Bally Sports North, and Treasure Island Resort & Casino Senior Days.
