CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Guardians announced today the following transaction relative to the 2025 Major League roster:
Acquired OF Nolan Jones from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for UTL Tyler Freeman.
Jones, 26, returns to the Guardians organization following a two-year stint with the Colorado Rockies (2023-24), finishing fourth in the 2023 National League Rookie of the Year voting after becoming the first rookie in Major League history to have at least 20 home runs, 20 stolen bases and 19 outfield assists in a season. The Langhorne, PA native compiled a 4.3 bWAR in 2023 with a .297/.389/.542/.931 slash line along with 22 2B, 4 3B, 20 HR and 62 RBI in 106 games, receiving NL Rookie of the Month honors for September. His 2024 campaign was limited to 79 games due to lower back issues that forced him onto the 10-day Injured List twice during the season.
Nolan was Cleveland’s second round pick (55th overall selection) in the 2016 MLB Draft after a standout prep career at Holy Ghost Prep High School in Philadelphia. He earned MiLB.com Organizational All-Star honors in 2018 and 2019 and entered the 2021 season as the 36th-overall prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline. After debuting with Cleveland in 2022, he was traded to the Rockies in November 2022 for INF Juan Brito.
