CHICAGO – Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox has been named American League Pitcher of the Month for June, his first career monthly honor.

Crochet, 25, went 1-1 with a 1.91 ERA (8 ER/37.2 IP), six walks and 56 strikeouts over six starts in June to become the first White Sox pitcher to receive the award since Dylan Cease in June and July 2022.

He led MLB in strikeouts and ranked among the AL leaders in ERA (4th), WHIP (4th) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4th, 9.33). Crochet’s 56 strikeouts were the second-highest total in June by a Sox pitcher behind Chris Sale (75) in 2015.

Crochet is 6-6 with a 3.02 ERA (34 ER/101.1 IP), 20 walks 141 strikeouts (12.52 per 9.0 IP) and a 0.93 WHIP over 18 starts this season, his first as a starter in the major leagues. He leads MLB in strikeouts, strikeout percentage (.353) and strikeouts per 9.0 IP and ranks among the leaders in WHIP (3rd), strikeout-to-walk ratio (5th, 7.05) and opponents average (6th, .198).

Crochet is the only MLB pitcher since at least 1901 to record 140-plus strikeouts with 20 walks or less over his first 18 career starts. His 141 strikeouts are the fourth-highest total in White Sox history before the All-Star Break, and his 12.52 strikeouts per 9.0 IP would break the franchise single-season mark of 12.28 set by Cease in 2021.

Crochet is attempting to join RHP Jack McDowell (1991-93), Sale (2012-16) and LHP Carlos Rodón (2021) as pitchers selected by the White Sox in the first round to make the All-Star Team.
