Former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Hunter Pence will host an equipment drive on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in his return to The City of Brotherly Love. The event will take place at Yards Brewing (500 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123) from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., where the public is invited to donate new or gently-used baseball or softball gear to gain entry and the opportunity to meet Pence, take photos, and receive autographs. Pence has partnered with Pitch in for Baseball & Softball (PIFBS) to distribute the collected equipment to youth baseball and softball teams in local underserved neighborhoods.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Philadelphia and to connect with the fans in a meaningful way,” said Pence, who played for the Phillies from 2011-2012. “As an advocate for youth sports and sustainability, I’m passionate about recycling sports equipment to support those in need. This drive is a great way to give back to the community and promote the values I care deeply about.”

PIFBS is a 501(c)(3) organization that helps give the gift of play and contributes to positive youth development by providing equipment to children around the world. This initiative reflects Pence’s ongoing commitment to youth programs and environmental sustainability through the nonprofit he established, the Healthy Planet Project.

Pence’s visit to Philadelphia is part of a series of special events celebrating the 20th anniversary of Citizens Bank Park. Pence will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Wednesday, July 31, prior to the 12:35 p.m. Phillies matchup against the New York Yankees.
