In his first six games as a Thresher, the Panama native slashed .316/.350/.684 (1.034 OPS) with two home runs and five RBI. Ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the Phillies system by MLB.com, Tait signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Jan. 15, 2023, and was signed by Abdiel Ramos.

A native of Venezuela, he recorded 10 strikeouts, his second-most this season, on July 13 against Hudson Valley in his final start with Jersey Shore before being promoted to Reading two days later. In his first start with the Fightin Phils on July 21 at Portland, Castellano earned the win after pitching 6.0 innings with six strikeouts.
