Dodgers recall James Outman

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers recalled outfielder James Outman and placed outfielder Chris Taylor on the injured list with a left groin strain.

Outman, 27, returns for his third stint with the big club after hitting .200 in his last stop with Los Angeles. On the season, he is batting .153 with three homers and 10 RBI in 45 games. He has played in 40 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, slashing .281/.407/.523 with nine homers and 21 RBI. Last season, he finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting after clubbing 23 homers and driving in 70 as the primary centerfielder of the Dodgers. He is in his third season with the Dodgers and has hit a combined .234 with 27 homers and 83 RBI in 200 games. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Sacramento State University.

Taylor, 33, left the game last night in the seventh inning. He appeared in 64 games this season, batting .167 with three homers and 15 RBI. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of 11 seasons with Seattle (2014-16) and Los Angeles-NL (2016-24) hitting .249 with 107 homers and 423 RBI in 1,042 games. He was acquired by the Dodgers on June 19, 2016 from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zach Lee.
