SCOTTSDALE - The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired infielder/outfielder Tyler Freeman via trade with the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for outfielder Nolan Jones.
Freeman, 25, has hit .308 (12-for-39) with four doubles, two triples, two home runs, six RBI and one stolen base in 15 Cactus League games with the Guardians this Spring … has made starts at five different positions this Spring, starting five games in center field, four games at second base, three games in right field and one game at third base and shortstop … appeared in 118 games with Cleveland in 2024, slashing .209/.305/.321 with 14 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 32 RBI and 11 stolen bases while posting 0.9 WAR (Baseball Reference) … was the Guardians Opening Day starter in center field in 2024, appearing in the most games in center field for Cleveland last season … in 206 career games since his Major League debut in 2022, the right-handed hitter has slashed .223/.304/.329 with 24 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs and 17 stolen bases … was originally selected by the Guardians in the second round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. … Freeman will wear #2.
