HOUSTON, TX - Rawlings announced tonight that 3B Alex Bregman has won the American League Gold Award for third base.

The Rawlings Gold Glove Award was created in 1957, and since then the award has served as the highest symbol of defensive excellence in Major League Baseball. The winners are determined by combining votes from Major League managers and coaches with a sabermetric component.

Bregman became the second third baseman to win a Gold Glove in Astros history, joining Doug Rader, who won five (1970-74). Bregman led AL third basemen in games (142), fielding percentage (.972), assists (242), total chances (355) and putouts (103). He also ranked tied for first in outs above average (six), tied for second in defensive runs saved (six) and third in zone rating (.799).

Bregman also becomes the 16th player in Astros history to receive a Gold Glove Award, with Mauricio Dubón (utility) the last to do so in 2023. The Astros have won 33 total Gold Glove Awards in their franchise history, including a winner in six of the previous seven seasons.

By winning a Gold Glove, Bregman is now eligible for the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award, with fan voting beginning now through Thursday, November 7, at 11:59 p.m. ET. The Rawlings Platinum Glove Award winners will be unveiled at the Rawlings Gold Glove Award ceremony in New York City, on Friday, November 8.
