Arizona Diamondbacks celebrate 25th anniversary

First 15,000 fans to Saturday’s game will receive a Throwback Replica Jersey

August 2nd, 2023

The D-backs are celebrating 25 years of baseball August 11-13 at Chase Field with fun festivities, a giveaway and community activity.

Nearly 60 D-backs alumni players are planning to return for this weekend-long celebration including (in alphabetical order) Jay Bell, Josh Collmenter, David Dellucci, Erubiel Durazo, Luis Gonzalez, Mark Grace, Dan Haren, David Hernandez, Randy Johnson, Miguel Montero, Gerardo Parra, JJ Putz, Ryan Roberts, Curt Schilling, Greg Swindell, Chad Tracy, Tony Womack and Brad Ziegler.

The team will wear their 2001 Vest Throwback uniforms for the 3-game series.

Friday, August 11:

D-backs alumni will join President, CEO & General Partner Derrick Hall, leadership from Cox Communications, the Boys & Girls Clubs (7th and Southern) and local dignitaries at the MLB All-Star D-backs Branch Boys & Girls Clubs (7th Avenue and Southern) to celebrate the team’s 25th Anniversary and reveal the newly renovated Cox Innovation Lab and D-backs Maker Space at the D-backs Club.

Saturday, August 12:

The first 15,000 fans in attendance on Saturday, August 12, for the 5:10 p.m. game against the Padres, will receive a 25th Anniversary Throwback Replica Jersey, courtesy of Casino Arizona.

Fans are advised to arrive early for a special pregame ceremony that will recognize the returning D-backs alumni players, 25-year employees, and season ticket holders (Advantage Members) who have supported the D-backs since the first season.

Greg Schulte (the Gub-nuh), who announced he will retire at the end of this season after 26 years with the team, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Schulte stepped into the radio booth during the team’s inaugural 1998 season and has covered all 26 seasons with the D-backs.

The national anthem will be performed by Phoenix’s own Dr. Jesse McGuire, whose trumpet performance of the Star-Spangled Banner has become a staple of D-backs special events, including this year’s Opening Day.
