A’s recall LHP O’Loughlin; Designate RHP Brooks for assignment

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled left-handed pitcher Jack O’Loughlin from Triple-A Las Vegas and designated right-handed pitcher Aaron Brooks for assignment, the club announced today.

O’Loughlin joins the A’s for the second time this year after making his Major League debut during his first stint from May 22 to June 8. He did not allow a run in 7.0 innings over three relief appearances and had a .220 opponents batting average and .559 OPS. The 24-year-old left-hander went 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA in two games, including one start, with the Aviators following his June 9 option and is 1-3 with a 5.44 ERA and .916 opponents OPS in 12 games, including nine starts, overall at Triple-A.

Brooks was selected from Las Vegas on Sunday and pitched 5.0 innings of relief last night at Los Angeles (AL), allowing a run on four hits. He is now 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA in five games, including four starts, over two stints with the A’s. Brooks is also 2-7 with a 4.30 ERA and .749 opponents OPS in 10 games, including nine starts, overall with the Aviators.
