PITTSBURGH -- Hoping to see the Pirates in action this spring? You may be in luck.

The Pirates announced preliminary information regarding their Spring Training plans, which included the news that the organization is planning to allow fans to watch Grapefruit League action at LECOM Park in Bradenton, Fla.

The club is anticipating allowing fans into games at approximately 25 percent capacity through seating pods of two or four people, with at least six feet between each pod, per the latest health and safety protocols. Masks will be mandatory for all in attendance unless eating or drinking, and the only bags allowed into the ballpark will be medical or diaper bags.

Touchless faucets, soap and towel dispensers have been installed in bathrooms at LECOM Park, and hand-sanitizing stations will be positioned throughout the ballpark. Lines for concessions will be clearly marked, with customer-facing card readers and plexiglass barriers to reduce contact between guests and concessions workers.

Autographs will not be permitted on site due to health and safety protocols.

The first phase of ticketing will begin Wednesday, when Pirates Spring Training season ticket holders and corporate partners will be allowed to order limited special presale tickets through Sunday. Due to health and safety protocols, the Pirates are not allowing any more season ticket packages to be made available this spring.

The Pirates are slated to host 17 home games this spring, with the first coming on Feb. 28 against the Braves. The team’s Grapefruit League opener comes the day prior, at the Red Sox.
