Pirates sign 2015 supplemental first round Draft pick Ke'Bryan Hayes

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced they have signed infielder Ke'Bryan Hayes, who was the club's supplemental first-round selection (32nd overall) in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President and General Manager Neal Huntington and Pirates Director of Amateur Scouting Joe DelliCarri.

"Today is an exciting day as we welcome Ke'Bryan into the Pirates organization," said DelliCarri. "Ke'Bryan's baseball foundation and advanced feel for playing the game on both sides of the ball will serve him well in working with our player development staff throughout his career path with the Pirates."

Hayes hit .436 (41-for-94) with 16 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 27 RBI and 12 stolen bases as a senior this year at Concordia Lutheran (TX) High School. As a senior this year, Hayes helped lead his high school to the 2015 TAPPS state championship after recording a game-winning, go-ahead RBI-single in the sixth inning.

In 2014, Hayes played for the Team USA Junior National team and the 2014 USA Baseball Tournament of Stars, where he hit .486 (17-for-35) with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI in 12 games for the Tournament of Stars.
The 18-year-old Hayes, who is the son of former Pirate and long-time Major Leaguer Charlie Hayes, was also a 2015 pre-season Perfect Game All-American and Texas All-Region first-team selection.

Hayes will begin his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Pirates.
