The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the addition of the first pitch times for all home games for the 2021 schedule that includes new family-friendly game times during school months as well as the introduction of earlier Sunday games. The 2021 Pirates home schedule at PNC Park will begin with a 1:35 p.m. game vs the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, April 8.

The 2021 home schedule now includes revised times for both the early and late months of the season to enhance the family experience, with all evening games in April and May as well as September beginning at 6:35 p.m., a 30-minute move from the customary 7:05 p.m. starts. In addition, Sunday home games throughout the season will be moved up from their usual 1:35 p.m. start and will now begin at 1:05 p.m.

“We have spent a lot of time listening to our Season Ticket Holders and fans and are making many changes to the fan experience based on their feedback,” said Pirates President Travis Williams. “In 2021, one of the changes everyone will be able to take advantage of is the earlier game times before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. These changes were made to accommodate family schedules and allow more fans the opportunity to attend a weekday game while still balancing their daily routines.”

Some other highlights from the 2021 schedule include:

• Including the Home Opener, there are 10 weekday afternoon games scheduled to begin at 12:35 p.m. (eight games) or 1:35 p.m. (two games) throughout the season.

• Four earlier games with the San Diego Padres Monday, April 12 through Thursday, April 15 with the first three games scheduled for 6:35 p.m. and the final game of the series scheduled for 12:35 p.m.

• Four Saturday 4:05 p.m. games that include opponents such as the Colorado Rockies, Miami Marlins, Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers.

Pirates Season Ticket Holders will be among the first invited back into PNC Park in 2021. Earlier this month, the Pirates announced enhanced Season Ticket Holders benefits that includes priority access. While seating capacities for 2021 remain unknown, Pirates Season Ticket Holders will receive priority access for all games when gates reopen to the public next season.
