Pirates acquire outfielder Billy Cook from Baltimore

The Pittsburgh Pirates today acquired outfielder Billy Cook from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Patrick Reilly.

The 25-year-old Cook has spilt the 2024 season between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk, combining to hit .275 (86-for-313)/.371 OBP/.470 SLG with 17 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 53 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 85 games.

Defensively, he has made appearances in all three outfield positions, as well as first, second and third bases. At the time of the trade, he was rated the No. 28 prospect in the Orioles system by MLB.com.

A native of Layton, Utah, the 5-foot-11 outfielder has appeared in 347 games over parts of four minor league seasons and is a lifeitme .249 (314-for-1263)/.327 OBP/.452 SLG hitter with 62 doubles, 12 triples, 57 home runs, 228 RBI and 81 stolen bases. He was originally selected by Baltimore in the 10th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of Pepperdine University.
