Phillies acquire Stovall from Rockies for Pazos
PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies traded left-hander James Pazos to the Rockies on Friday for Class A infielder Hunter Stovall.
Pazos had been designated for assignment Wednesday to make room for infielder Sean Rodríguez on the 40-man roster. Pazos joined the Phillies in November as part of the Jean Segura trade with Seattle. He got optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley before the beginning of the season. He had a 6.14 ERA in seven appearances with the IronPigs.
The Rockies selected Stovall, 22, in the 21st round of the 2018 Draft. He is batting .281 with an .853 OPS in 70 plate appearances for Class A Asheville. In parts of two Minor League seasons he has played second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield positions. He also caught in instructional league.
