SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Ronald Bolanos. Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcement.
The 19-year-old right-hander was ranked by MLB.com as the No. 20 International prospect in the 2016 class and ranked by Baseball America as the fourth-best Cuban pitcher available earlier this year in February. In 2014, he played in the COPABE 18U Pan American Championship in Mexico. The Cuban-native came up as an outfielder before converting to a pitcher and also played in Cuba's Serie Nacional.
