The Padres appear determined to move Brad Hand before the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, and the lefty likely improved his stock with another effective performance Sunday.
Hand didn't disappoint the bevy of scouts in attendance to see him, striking out a batter over a scoreless inning in San Diego's 5-2 win over San Francisco. Hand earned his third save of the season and lowered his earned run average to 2.12 in the process, in 46 appearances.
Hand's perfect ninth accounted for his 16th consecutive scoreless appearance. He hasn't allowed a run since June 10 and has struck out 66 batters in 51 innings overall.
Hand could be Padres general manager A.J. Preller's top trade chip since Preller took the reigns in San Diego in 2014. More than half the league has checked in on the southpaw reliever, who has blossomed into a star over two seasons with the Padres, according to MLB.com's A.J. Cassavell.

Eduardo Nunez
The Giants' infielder went 3-for-4 in the same game, the second consecutive game in which he's recorded three hits. Nunez was acquired by the Giants at the Trade Deadline last season and is in demand again because of his versatility and athleticism.
The 30-year-old's batting average is up to .305 this season, and he's hitting .342 this month. The Red Sox are rumored to be interested.
Derek Holland
The White Sox's lefty was one of two southpaw starters who probably didn't raise their stocks Sunday. Holland allowed three solo home runs in 4 2/3 innings in what ended as a 5-4 loss to the Royals in Kansas City. The White Sox, in full rebuild, are rumored to be shopping Holland, who is signed to a one-year deal.

J.A. Happ
Happ's name continues to be tossed around in rumors even though the Jays are highly unlikely to deal him, according to MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal. Happ fell to 3-7 after allowing seven runs in six innings in Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Indians.

Marlins controllable core
Though interest continues to pour in from around the league, the Marlins don't expect to trade from their core of controllable young position players until the team's ownership situation is cleared up. Still, the situation is fluid, so it's worth keeping an eye on those young, movable stars. On Sunday, Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich and Justin Bour combined to go 1-for-12 with four strikeouts in Miami's 6-3 loss to Cincinnati.

Pat Neshek
Philadelphia's sidewinding reliever is drawing interest from contenders looking for middle relief help. Neshek struck out two in a scoreless inning in the Phillies' 6-3 win over the Brewers, lowering his season ERA to 1.12 in 43 appearances. The Rays are rumored to be heavily interested.
Zach Britton
Speaking of elite relief, Zach Britton earned his sixth save of the year with a scoreless inning in Baltimore's 9-7 win over Houston. Orioles general manager Dan Duquette has received permission from ownership to explore potential trades for Britton, who led the AL in saves last season.
