Padres Acquire OF Connor Panas from Blue Jays

The San Diego Padres have acquired outfielder Connor Panas from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for left-hander Clayton Richard and cash considerations, Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres have acquired outfielder Connor Panas from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for left-hander Clayton Richard and cash considerations, Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.
Panas, 25, appeared in 105 games for double-A New Hampshire last season and registered a .232 (86-for-370) average with 16 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 39 RBI. In 2017, he was selected as a Blue Jays Organizational All-Star by MiLB.com and a postseason Florida State League All-Star for single-A Dunedin after batting .276 (111-for-402) with a .364 OBP, 20 doubles, 18 home runs and 55 RBI in 114 games.
Through parts of four minor league seasons (2015-18), the left-handed hitting Panas has posted a .251 career average with a .338 OBP, .762 OPS, 56 doubles, 10 triples, 48 home runs, 173 RBI, 132 walks and 179 runs scored in 368 games. He was originally selected by the Blue Jays in the ninth round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Canisius College, where he was named 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a 2015 Louisville Slugger First-Team All American.
