Jones named Heart and Hustle Award winner
BALTIMORE -- Adam Jones once again proved this season that he can bring some serious contributions with his efforts. Jones was named Baltimore's recipient of the 2017 Heart and Hustle Award on Tuesday afternoon, marking the fifth time he's taken home the honor.
The award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game and embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game. It's the only award in Major League Baseball that is voted on by former players.
"We are proud to present this award to Adam for the fifth time," MLBPAA chief executive officer Dan Foster said. "He embodies all the qualities the Heart and Hustle Award represents."
One player from each MLB team is selected and recognized prior to one of their home games. The overall winner selected from that pool will be announced on November 14, 2017. Previous winners include Todd Frazier, Anthony Rizzo, Michael Trout and Dustin Pedroia.
