Drake designated for assignment; Taylor up
CLEVELAND -- The Indians designated relief pitcher Oliver Drake for assignment and recalled right-hander Ben Taylor from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
The right-handed Drake has a 7.94 ERA in 17 innings this season. He allowed six runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning in Cleveland's 11-2 loss to the Astros on Friday. Drake was acquired from the Brewers on May 5 for cash considerations. With Milwaukee, he was 1-0 with a 6.38 ERA over 12 2/3 innings in 11 appearances.
Taylor, 25, has allowed one run on two hits in 3 1/3 innings over three appearances for the Indians this season. He is 1-1 with a 3.63 ERA in 15 games in the Minors this season. He's allowed seven runs and 12 hits in 17 1/3 innings while holding opponents to a .188 batting average. Taylor was claimed on waivers from the Red Sox in February.
