OAKLAND -- The A's have an agreement in place on a one-year deal with infielder Trevor Plouffe, the club announced Wednesday.
The deal is worth $5.25 million plus incentives, according to multiple reports. Plouffe can earn $150,000 for 350 plate appearances and $300,000 each for 450 and 525 plate appearances. The club has not confirmed those figures.
Plouffe, 30, has played all seven of his big league seasons with the Twins, who made him a first-round Draft pick in 2004. He served as their everyday third baseman for much of the past several years and could potentially assume that role with the A's, meaning Ryon Healy will likely share time at designated hitter and first base.

Plouffe is a career .247/.308/.420 hitter with 96 home runs in 723 games. He was limited to 84 games in 2016 because of injuries, and he hit .260 with a .303 on-base percentage and 12 homers. He had a career-high 86 RBIs in 2015, reeling off 22 home runs.
Plouffe was in line to earn more than $8 million in his third arbitration year, before the Twins opted to non-tender him following the season.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the A's designated right-hander Zach Neal for assignment.
