The Nationals have reportedly signed free-agent infielder Reid Brignac to a Minor League contract with an invitation to the team's Spring Training camp, according to MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal. The club has not confirmed the report.
Brignac, 32, last saw big league action with the Braves in 2016, albeit for 13 games in which he hit .207. The last time Brignac played at least 90 games with a club came in 2011 with the Rays, his original team.
Brignac is known for his defensive versatility, having manned second base, shortstop and third base in the infield, as well as limited action at the corner outfield spots in his career. His most productive Major League season came in 2010, when he played in 113 games and hit .256 with eight home runs and 45 RBIs for Tampa Bay.
