Nats sign southpaw Laffey to Minors deal
WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have signed left-hander Aaron Laffey to a Minor League deal with an invitation to Major League Spring Training, the team announced on Friday.
This is Laffey's second stint in the Nationals' organization. In 2014, he won 12 games and had a 3.67 ERA for Triple-A Syracuse. The 30-year-old can be both a starter and long man out of the bullpen.
Last year, Laffey was in the Rockies' organization, spending most of the time with Triple-A Albuquerque before a brief stint at the Major League level. He made three appearances for Colorado, allowing three runs in 7 1/3 innings.
Laffey was drafted by the Indians in the 16th round of the 2003 Draft. In eight Major League seasons, Laffey is 26-29 with a 4.44 ERA in 156 games.
