ATLANTA -- Saturday's game between the Nationals and Braves entered a delay before the top of the sixth inning due to inclement weather. As rain fell down at SunTrust Park, Nats left-hander Oliver Perez gave the grounds crew a helping hand to cover the field.
Atlanta held a 3-2 lead thanks to a pair of home runs. Rio Ruiz, the club's No. 22 prospect as rated by MLBPipeline.com, hammered a two-run homer in the second inning, and Matt Kemp added a solo shot in the fourth.

Both homers came off Washington right-hander Max Scherzer, who struck out six and threw 106 pitches in five innings. The Nationals were held scoreless by right-hander Bartolo Colon until the fifth when they got on the board thanks to RBI singles from Trea Turner and Jayson Werth.

Colon gave up two runs (one earned) on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings with six strikeouts.
