Mariners duo Diaz, Marte set for Futures Game
Right-hander, shortstop each named to World Team for prospect showcase
SEATTLE -- Right-handed pitcher Edwin Diaz and shortstop Ketel Marte, two of the Mariners' top prospects, were named Thursday to compete in the 2015 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on July 12 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Diaz, a 21-year-old from Puerto Rico, is pitching for Double-A Jackson after opening the season with Class A Advanced Bakersfield. He's a combined 4-4 with a 3.36 ERA in 14 starts, with 76 strikeouts in 75 innings.
Marte, a 21-year-old from the Dominican Republic, put up a .343/.394/.434 line with 17 stolen bases in 51 games for Triple-A Tacoma before breaking his right thumb on May 31. He's currently on the disabled list, but he is working out at the team's Spring Training complex in Peoria, Ariz., and a decision will be made in the coming days as to whether he'll be ready to compete in the Futures Game.Video: Top Prospects: Ketel Marte, SS, Mariners
Marte is the No. 3 prospect in the Mariners' organization by MLB.com, while Diaz is No. 6.
Both Diaz and Marte were named to the World Team, which will be managed by former Reds star Tony Perez. Ken Griffey Sr. will manage the U.S. Team. Major League Basebal -- in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League clubs -- selected the 25 players on each team.
Each Major League organization is represented and players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to participate in the Futures Game.
The 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at noon PT on July 12, and it can be seen live on MLB Network and MLB.com, with Matt Vasgersian, Dan Plesac, Heidi Watney and Jonathan Mayo on the call. In addition, SiriusXM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89; Sirius channel 209). MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game.
