LOS ANGELES -- The full rosters for the 2024 All-Star Game were officially revealed on Sunday -- and the Dodgers, as per usual, will be well-represented in this year’s Midsummer Classic in Arlington.

Catcher Will Smith, outfielder Teoscar Hernández, shortstop Mookie Betts, first baseman Freddie Freeman and right-hander Tyler Glasnow will be joining designated hitter Shohei Ohtani, who was announced as the starter at designated hitter last week.

For Betts and Freeman, they’ll both be making their eighth All-Star Game appearances. Betts -- who is on the injured list and won't be able to play in the game itself -- earned his selection as a shortstop for the first time as a Major Leaguer, a childhood dream for the six-time Gold Glove Award winner in right field.

Freeman has been a model of consistency since joining the Dodgers in ‘22, making the All-Star team in each of his three seasons in Los Angeles.

"I think there’s six of us, that’s pretty special,” Freeman said. “When you've got over 20% of your team going to an All-Star Game, that means you’ve got a pretty good team. So it’s going to be fun. Great group of guys."

Hernández will be enjoying his second All-Star selection and first in the National League, after one with Toronto in 2021. There haven’t been many better free-agent signings than Hernández, who has established himself as a real threat in the middle of the Dodgers’ lineup after a down season with the Mariners in ‘23. Hernández is second on the Dodgers with 60 RBIs and has also expressed interest in possibly participating in the Home Run Derby.

"It means a lot,” Hernández said. “This is what we’ve worked for. Obviously, coming in here, big city, big team, huge fan base. To be able to do the things that they expect me to do, help the team, that is most important for me."

Like Hernández, Smith will be making his second All-Star appearance. Smith is joining Brewers catcher William Contreras as the only two backstops named to the NL squad. The Dodgers’ catcher cemented his case over the weekend, hitting four homers in consecutive at-bats against Milwaukee, matching a Dodgers record.

As for Glasnow, the right-hander will be making his first All-Star Game appearance. Acquired from the Rays in a trade this offseason, Glasnow has been hampered by injuries throughout his career, preventing him from earning an All-Star nod to this point. This season, though, the L.A.-area native has made all 18 starts and established himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in the National League.

"It’s great,” Glasnow said. “It’s always been a goal of mine to go to the All-Star Game and I think injuries and stuff in the past have made it not possible for me to go. So to be able to go this year, especially with the hometown team and everything [is exciting]."

Right-hander Gavin Stone also had a good case to be named an All-Star but wasn’t one of the 13 pitchers selected. However, over the next week, Stone could still make it as a replacement for any pitcher who won’t be available to pitch on July 16.

Stone will make his final first-half appearance on Wednesday against the Phillies, giving him a chance to be available out of the bullpen if his name is called for the All-Star Game.

"With pitching, you never know if some guys can’t pitch over the weekend or that game,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

"Hopefully there’s an opportunity for Gavin, because everyone knows he’s had an All-Star first half."
