Wow! Mom makes incredible barehanded snag
Moms … is there anything they can’t do?
One mother in Baltimore showed off her skills and came away with a special Mother’s Day gift on Sunday, when Cedric Mullins put the Orioles on the board with a ground-rule double to right-center field in the second inning of the eventual 6-4 Royals win.
Without leaving her seat, the woman reached out and snagged Mullins’ one-hopper after it bounced over the wall and into the stands, then celebrated with a round of high fives from her family and the surrounding fans.
Talk about a Mother’s Day she’ll never forget!
The 19,893 fans on hand Sunday also witnessed the Orioles get solid starting pitching in both halves of the traditional twin bill, though a bullpen meltdown undid the 7 1/3 strong innings they received from Jordan Lyles in Game 1.
Baltimore avenged that defeat with a 4-2 Game 2 win, pairing a three-run first inning with six frames of two-run ball from Bruce Zimmermann. Austin Hays (5-for-7, 2 walks, 3 runs) and Ryan Mountcastle (5-for-9, 2 RBI, SB) were the offensive stars of the day, with Hays at one point reaching base in nine consecutive plate appearances dating back to Thursday.
