Walk-off Wednesday features look at 'One Crazy Night'
MLB Network is rolling out another installment of "Walk-off Wednesday" this week, highlighted by a new primetime special recapping the unforgettable final day of the 2011 regular season titled "Walk-Off: One Crazy Night."
Fans will be able to relive the drama as it unfolded starting at 7 p.m., when the one-hour film takes an in-depth look at the action from Sept. 28, 2011, including new interviews with Dan Johnson, who hit a game-tying home run with the Rays down to their final out on that night, and Chris Carpenter, who tossed a two-hit shutout to help St. Louis clinch a postseason berth on the National League side.
Here's a look at the day's full schedule, which also includes an Opening Day walk-off thriller and a trio of postseason classics (all times ET):
9 a.m.: Brewers vs. Reds from March 31, 2011
Though Milwaukee started this Opening Day clash with back-to-back homers from Rickie Weeks and Carlos Gomez, the Reds finished it with a walk-off shot off Brewers closer John Axford. With Cincinnati down to its final out, catcher Ramon Hernandez clubbed a walk-off three-run homer to give his club a 7-6 season-opening victory.
Noon and 6 p.m.: MLB Tonight
MLB Network's year-round Emmy Award-winning signature studio show brings you the latest news from around Major League Baseball.
3 p.m.: 2011 World Series Game 6 -- Rangers vs. Cardinals
This unforgettable classic had a number of must-see highlights. With the Rangers one out away from clinching their first World Series title in Game 6, Cards third baseman David Freese instead lined a two-run game-tying triple over the head of right fielder Nelson Cruz. Texas responded in the top of the 10th with a two-run homer from Josh Hamilton, but St. Louis once again rallied with a pair of runs in the bottom half. Freese finally finished off the epic battle with a walk-off homer to lead off the bottom of the 11th.
