Moment of silence held at all ballparks for Willie Mays
Major League Baseball held a moment of silence before each game on Wednesday in honor of Willie Mays, who died Tuesday at age 93.
All 15 games observed the moment of silence before the first pitch. This followed similar gestures honoring Mays that occurred at some ballparks Tuesday night as news of his death spread around the baseball world.

The Say Hey Kid spent 23 seasons in the big leagues, hit 660 home runs, won two MVPs, made 24 All-Star appearances and was a 12-time Gold Glove Award winner. He was inducted in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979.
Mays' death came just two days before the historic "MLB at Rickwood Field" game in Birmingham, Ala., where Mays began his career as a teenager in the Negro Leagues. A special ceremony will honor Mays' life and legacy before that game.
