A 5-hit night for Crew 1st-rounder
It's always great to see a player perform well in his first taste of professional baseball. That's certainly been the case for outfielder Sal Frelick, whom the Brewers took 15th overall in July's MLB Draft.
Just over a month after being selected, the 21-year-old outfielder has opened his pro career with a bang, upping his season batting average between Milwaukee's Rookie-level affiliate and Low-A Carolina to .412 with a .987 OPS following a five-hit performance in Carolina's 10-4 victory over Augusta on Tuesday night at Five County Stadium.
Frelick went 5-for-6 with a double and an RBI -- the two-bagger was his third of the season, and the RBI was his 10th in 10 games so far (six with Carolina after four with the Arizona Complex League Brewers). He's also picked up a homer and a triple in his professional debut.
You can't ask for a much better start than that, and Frelick's future seems bright at the outset of his career.
