Nearly four months after he underwent surgery to repair a torn right Achilles tendon, Braves right-hander Mike Soroka has resumed throwing. Soroka, who was also sporting some new Bryce Harper-level flow, posted an Instagram video of himself playing catch at Truist Park on Monday.

The 23-year-old sustained the injury on Aug. 3 against the Mets while attempting to come off the mound on J.D. Davis’ grounder to first baseman Freddie Freeman. Soroka underwent surgery several days later.

In 2019, Soroka finished sixth in the National League Cy Young Award race and second in the NL Rookie of the Year Award voting after posting a 2.68 ERA over 174 2/3 innings.

The Braves haven't yet provided a timetable for Soroka’s return. Zack Britton and Adam Wainwright were able to return within five to six months after sustaining Achilles tears in the past, though each pitcher suffered the injury in his landing leg. Soroka tore the Achilles in his push-off leg.
