Aug. 31: Mets 6, Marlins 5 (Game 1); Mets 3, Marlins 1 (Game 2) -- Long wait a record
Tuesday's first game began with the resumption of the April 11 matchup between the Marlins and Mets after 142 days -- or four months, 19 days, 23 hours and 55 minutes. That is a Major League record, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Aug. 29: Marlins 2, Reds 1 -- Back to back series victories
With series victories over the Nationals and Reds on the homestand, the Marlins captured consecutive series for the first time since June 8-13 (Rockies and Braves).

Aug. 28: Marlins 6, Reds 1 -- Five-spot first
The Marlins' five first-inning runs were their most since scoring five on Sept. 30, 2017, against the Braves.

Aug. 27: Reds 6, Marlins 0 -- Fish producing goose eggs
The Marlins were held scoreless for the 12th time this season, tying them with the Rangers, Pirates and D-backs for the second-highest total in the Majors. Cincinnati has held Miami to one run or fewer in three of their five matchups in 2021.

Aug. 26: Marlins 7, Nationals 5 -- First-pitch hacking
Bryan De La Cruz recorded his first career stolen base in the sixth inning. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate, collecting his third career three-hit game. All three hits came on the first pitch of the at-bat.

Aug. 25: Marlins 4, Nationals 3 (10) -- Alfaro walks it off
Jorge Alfaro recorded his third career walk-off hit and his second of the season (April 17, vs. the Giants), with an RBI single in the 10th inning against Washington. It marked the Marlins' fifth walk-off win of the season, and first since July 7 vs. the Dodgers.

Aug. 24: Nationals 5, Marlins 1 -- Chisholm Jr.'s steals
Jazz Chisholm Jr. recorded a multi-steal game for the first time since April 26, stealing second base in the first and third innings. He has stolen four bases in his past four games after going 18 straight without a steal.

Aug. 22: Reds 3, Marlins 1 -- Tough stretch
The Marlins have been outscored 46-to-20 during their seven-game losing streak. They have only held a lead at the end of an inning twice during the streak.

Aug. 21: Reds 7, Marlins 4 -- Thompson can't catch a break
Zach Thompson is winless in his last eight starts -- his last win coming June 26 against the Nationals -- despite a solid 3.63 ERA (39 2/3 IP, 16 ER). The Marlins provided just 27 runs in those eight games.

Aug. 20: Reds 5, Marlins 3 -- Jazz hitting the right notes Jazz Chisholm Jr. is 7-for-17 (.412) with three homers in his last five games. But he has competition at the position. Isan Díaz is 5-for-15 (.333) in his last five games.

Aug. 19: Reds 6, Marlins 1 -- Brinson heating up
Lewis Brinson is showing confidence at the plate, going 19-for-60 (.317) with four home runs and 17 RBIs in last 17 games.

Aug. 18: Braves 11, Marlins 9 -- León on the mound
Sandy León became the first position player in Marlins history to pitch four times in a season. He retired the side -- Ehire Adrianza, Freddie Freeman (who had already hit for the cycle in the game) and Austin Riley -- on five pitches in the ninth.

Aug. 17: Braves 2, Marlins 0 -- Another 8 innings for Alcantara
Sandy Alcantara has thrown at least eight innings five times this season, which is tied with the Cardinals' Adam Wainwright for the most in the Majors.

Aug. 16: Braves 12, Marlins 2 -- Walk this way
The Marlins walked a season-high 11 batters in the series opener. It was their most since May 2, 2017, when they issued 11 walks in a 3-1 loss to the Rays. Overall, Miami is just 2-21 when issuing at least 11 walks. The franchise record for walks in a single game is 17, though that came in a 16-inning loss against the Astros on Aug. 20, 1999. The club record a nine-inning game is 12, done twice.

Aug. 15: Marlins 4, Cubs 1 -- Going streaking
The Marlins swept the Cubs for the first time since 2012, when they made their first trip to loanDepot park. Miami matched its season-high four-game winning streak in the series finale.

Aug. 14: Marlins 5, Cubs 4 -- Andy's cannon
Third baseman Brian Anderson's 92.5 mph throw to first on David Bote's grounder in the ninth inning was his fastest tracked throw since the start of last season.

Aug. 13: Marlins 14, Cubs 10 -- Rookie pop
Bryan De La Cruz hit his first career grand slam -- the fourth by a Marlins player this season -- in the second inning. The last Marlins rookie to record a grand slam was Lewis Brinson on May 20, 2018, at Atlanta.

Aug. 11: Marlins 7, Padres 0 -- Sandy's whiffs
Sandy Alcantara recorded 15 whiffs in the road trip finale, his highest total since June 16. His maximum velocity of 100.8 mph matched his fastest pitch of the season, previously done on July 16. Alcantara opened the trip by surrendering a career-high 10 earned runs last Friday in Denver.

Aug. 10: Padres 6, Marlins -- Aguilar feelin' 100 Jesús Aguilar recorded at least 100 hits in a season for just the second time in his eight-year MLB career. Aguilar went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. In 2021, he has 62 singles, 20 doubles and 20 homers.

Aug. 9: Padres 8, Marlins 3 -- Miami leaning on rookies arms
With Zach Thompson's outing in the series opener at Petco Park, the Marlins increased their MLB lead with 58 starts made by rookies in 2021. Miami entered the game leading MLB with 405 1/3 innings (41.3%) pitched by rookies.

Aug. 8: Rockies 13, Marlins 8 -- Rough weekend for the Marlins
Going into their three-game series in Colorado, the Marlins had actually scored more runs this season than they had given up (427 runs scored, 425 runs allowed). By the time they left, their run differential turned negative in a big way -- 441 runs scored and 459 surrendered.

Aug. 7: Rockies 7, Marlins 4 -- Alfaro's arm
With a perfect relay throw to third baseman Brian Anderson, who completed the 7-5-2 putout of C.J. Cron at the plate in the seventh inning, Jorge Alfaro picked up his first career outfield assist. Primarily a catcher, Alfaro was playing in his sixth game as an outfielder.

Aug. 6: Rockies 14, Marlins 2 -- A start to forget for Alcantara
The 10 earned runs Sandy Alcantara gave up against the Rockies at Coors Field were a career high for the 25-year-old right-hander. His previous high was eight, which also came this season on May 14 against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Aug. 5: Marlins 4, Mets 2 -- Marlins muffle Báez
The series finale marked the third time in club history Marlins pitchers have held an opposing player -- in this case Mets shortstop Javier Báez -- hitless and struck him out five times in a single game. He joins Jeff Francoeur (Braves, Aug. 28, 2007) and Andruw Jones (Dodgers, July 12, 2008).

Aug. 4: Mets 5, Marlins 3 -- Guenther's MLB debut
Sean Guenther became the 30th pitcher to appear in a game for the Marlins this season. He struck out a pair in his Major League debut.

Aug. 3: Marlins 5, Mets 4 -- Neidert's slider usage
Nick Neidert had the second-highest slider percentage usage of his career, and he recorded eight whiffs on the pitch. According to MLB Pipeline, that pitch has a grade of 50 on the scouting scale.

Aug. 2: Marlins 6, Mets 3 -- Brinson slams into club history
Lewis Brinson hit the third no-out, first-inning grand slam in Marlins history, joining Hanley Ramírez (July 2, 2011) and Mark Kotsay (Sept. 6, 1999). Brinson also set a career high with five RBIs.

Aug. 1: Yankees 3, Marlins 1 -- So close
Of the Marlins' 61 losses this season, 38 have been by two runs or fewer.
