Baseball's hottest team added another piece Friday, as the National League West-leading Dodgers acquired former All-Star outfielder Curtis Granderson from the Mets and cash in exchange for Minor League right-hander Jacob Rhame.
Granderson, 36, adds a lefty power bat to Los Angeles' already stacked lineup. After a brutal first month in which he put up a .128/.174/.221 slash line, Granderson is batting .273 with 17 home runs and a .979 OPS since May 10, with the latter mark ranking 10th in the Majors over that stretch.
For the season, Granderson owns a .228 average with a .481 slugging percentage and an .815 OPS while also contributing 19 home runs and 52 RBIs.

He joins a club running away with the best record in baseball, a juggernaut boasting legitimate World Series aspirations. The Dodgers improved to 86-34 after an 8-5 win over the Tigers on Friday. Granderson has never won a World Series ring despite making six postseasons with the Tigers, Yankees and Mets.
"It's been a great four years here with the Mets organization," Granderson said, shaking hands and hugging teammates and staff members in the Mets' clubhouse early Saturday morning. "All these guys have been amazing. ... It's a little bittersweet. But to get an opportunity to play into the postseason is going to be exciting."
While his playing time with Los Angeles is unclear at this point, Granderson's addition should improve the Dodgers' outfield depth. Joc Pederson has faded as the summer has worn on, collecting just two hits in 37 at-bats in the month of August. Chris Taylor, one of baseball's biggest surprises this season, has already logged a career-high 102 games and 409 plate appearances. Yasiel Puig has improved greatly against right-handed pitching this season, but Granderson and his .853 OPS against righties could step in if Puig should falter.
Furthermore, we've seen Granderson excel in the biggest moments, particularly during the Mets' 2015 run to the National League pennant. Now a Dodger, Granderson will likely face some familiar foes once again in October.
Granderson's tenure in Queens ends after four seasons that included a run to the 2015 World Series, in which he hit three home runs on the game's biggest stage. He will be a free agent after this season.
