Mets-Phils PPD Friday, to be made up Aug. 20
The Phillies will have to wait another day to wash the taste of Thursday night’s stunning defeat from their mouths, as Friday’s game against the Mets was postponed due to rain in the forecast.
Friday’s game will be made up as part of a split-admission doubleheader on Saturday, Aug. 20. The first game will begin at 1:05 p.m. ET. The originally scheduled August 20 game will remain at 7:15 p.m.
Fans holding tickets to Friday night’s game may attend the 1:05 p.m. game on Aug. 20 using their original tickets.
Philadelphia will start Kyle Gibson -- who was slated to pitch Friday night -- opposite Mets ace Max Scherzer on Saturday, while Zach Eflin will get the ball in Sunday’s series finale against right-hander Chris Bassitt. Eflin had been scheduled to start on Saturday.
The Phillies will be looking to bounce back after dropping a stunner Friday night, as the Mets scored seven times in the ninth inning to erase a 7-1 deficit. Philadelphia has lost four straight games, falling to 11-15 for the season.
