MIAMI -- The Marlins are expected to promote right-hander Max Meyer, MLB Pipeline's No. 31 overall prospect, to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, a source told MLB.com.

The 22-year-old opened his first professional season with 20 starts at Double-A Pensacola, finishing among the Double-A South leaders in several pitching categories: ERA (first, 2.41), batting average against (first, .226), WHIP (second, 1.23), strikeouts (second, 113) and innings (fourth, 101). He was named to the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game in July for his performance.

Selected third overall in the 2020 MLB Draft, Meyer was expected to be a fast riser through the system. With no Minor League season last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Meyer participated at the alternate training site and in the fall instructional league. Meyer was invited to big league Spring Training, but he did not pitch in a Grapefruit League game. MLB Pipeline projects Meyer to reach the Majors in 2022.

Joining Meyer in Jacksonville will be 24-year-old outfielder Peyton Burdick (Miami's No. 14 prospect). Like Meyer, Burdick has an estimated big league arrival of 2022.

Burdick, the third-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, set single-season Blue Wahoos records for homers (23) and walks (76) this season. In 106 games at Double-A Pensacola, Burdick slashed .231/.376/.472. He posted an OPS of at least .822 in four of the five months, including a 1.070 mark in August.

The Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp have 10 games remaining on their schedule, which runs through Oct. 3.
