Counsell calls Garza's first start 'doubtful'
Right-hander dealing with shoulder discomfort, examined by team doctor

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers' outlook for right-hander Matt Garza was downgraded Monday, when manager Craig Counsell said the veteran was "doubtful" for his scheduled start on Wednesday against the Giants because of continued discomfort in Garza's right shoulder.
Garza, who exited his final exhibition start on Friday with stiffness, was examined Monday afternoon by the Brewers' head physician, Dr. William Raasch. Counsell hoped to have more information about his upcoming pitching plans after that visit.
Taylor Jungmann will likely pitch Wednesday against San Francisco on regular rest. Because of off-days, Milwaukee could opt to navigate its first 11 games with four starting pitchers before introducing a fifth arm on April 17 at Pittsburgh.
