PHILADELPHIA -- The Marlins' series finale against the Phillies on Thursday night at Citizens Bank Park was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up as part of a single-admission, seven-inning doubleheader on July 16, beginning at 4:05 p.m. ET. That will kick off Miami's final trip to Philadelphia this season in the club's first series coming out of the All-Star break.

The tarp was placed on the infield around 4:05 p.m. ET, and rain began to fall approximately 30 minutes later. First pitch had been scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

This marks the third time this season the Marlins have had a game suspended or postponed due to weather. They are scheduled to complete their April 11 game against the Mets on Aug. 31. A May 30 rainout in Boston was made up on June 7, which was originally an off-day.

Pablo López, who was set to start Thursday's rubber match against the Phillies, will now start Friday's series opener against the Braves in Atlanta.

"I think the biggest thing is -- and you feel pretty comfortable that both teams are in a situation that they don't want to lose their starter," manager Don Mattingly said prior to the postponement. "We don't want to start Pablo [and have him] go an inning, and I'm assuming the same with them. They're not going to want to start their guy and he goes two innings and they lose a start out of him. We're both pretty much in the same boat, so you're hoping that everybody's thinking along those lines."
