NEW YORK – Marlins general manager Kim Ng and president of business operations Caroline O’Connor joined ADT’s chief marketing officer DeLu Jackson on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. ET to ring the New York Stock Exchange bell, opening trading for the day.

With Ng and O’Connor in attendance at the stock exchange, they represented the diversity in the Marlins organization. The Marlins are the first professional sports franchise in the United States to have women serving as general manager and president.

“The Marlins have arrived. … We are showcasing a diversity that our organization has – myself and Kim,” O’Connor said. “We are proud to have the opportunity to ring the bell and show it all to the world.”

Ng, who attended elementary and junior high school in Queens, is familiar with the stock exchange.

“I came here when I was young. We took a tour with my elementary school,” Ng remembered. “We took a tour of the stock exchange. To be up there ringing the bell at 9:30 was awesome.”

ADT and the Marlins announced late last month a major partnership, entitling ADT as the Marlins' first jersey patch partner. The partnership connects two South Florida-based organizations committed to providing the best service and positively impacting the communities where their employees live, work and serve. ADT, a safety innovator for 148 years, has called Boca Raton, Fla., home for more than two decades and is the No. 1 smart home security provider in the U.S.

O’Connor was pleased to have a member of ADT by the Marlins’ side during the ceremony.

“ADT is our neighbors and a big part of our community,” O’Connor said. “We are excited to stand with them in our community with a lot of the programming that we do and also with activation in our ballpark and [the patch] on our jersey, both home and on the road. We are excited to have ADT with us. They want to be out there the way that we do, so you are going to see a lot of us together. We are working hard for the South Florida community.”
