Marlins add Masset to bullpen, option prospect Urena
PHILADELPHIA -- The Marlins optioned right-handed pitcher Jose Urena to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Nick Masset.
Masset, 32, is now with his fifth Major League team, having completed stints with Texas, Colorado, Cincinnati and the Chicago White Sox. The righty holds a career record of 18-14 over seven seasons and has a 5.80 ERA.
"Urena is one of our top prospects, but he's not a bullpen guy," manager Mike Redmond said. "To have a guy like Nick that is experienced and long in the tooth in the bullpen will help."
Urena, Miami's No. 3 ranked prospect according to MLB.com, threw three innings in two relief appearances -- including three runs allowed on Saturday in New York. He was called up to fill in for David Phelps, who went on paternity leave. When Phelps returned, Urena remained in Miami's bullpen and Carter Capps was optioned to New Orleans.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Masset, the Marlins designated lefty Matt Tracy for assignment.
