NEW YORK -- The Mets have constructed their longest winning streak in half a decade at precisely the right time.

hit a walk-off, two-run homer off Justin Wilson to lead the Mets to a 6-4 win over the Reds in 10 innings on Friday night at Citi Field. It was their eighth victory in a row, capping a monster, multi-homer game for the third baseman.

The eight-game winning streak is the Mets’ longest since they also won eight in a row from Aug. 3-10, 2019.

The Mets took an early lead in the first inning on Vientos’ first two-run homer, and added two more runs on four straight hits in the sixth. But Sean Manaea cracked for a pair of two-run homers to Elly De La Cruz in the fourth inning and TJ Friedl in the seventh, snapping his streak of four consecutive quality starts.

Vientos finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
