Watch: Franco fakes throw to 1st, nabs Robles
April 3rd, 2019
WASHINGTON -- Maikel Franco is having a good season in the field, too.
He made a smart defensive play in the fourth inning in Wednesday's 9-8 loss at Nationals Park, where Brian Dozier hit a slow-rolling ground ball down the third-base line. Franco fielded the ball and faked a throw to first. His pump fake was enough to get Victor Robles to make a wide turn around second base. Franco threw to second and Cesar Hernandez tagged out Robles to end the inning.
Franco entered the game with three home runs and five intentional walks in the season’s first four games.
